 he next time you idly wonder if you should pay the hair salon a visit, Touch Apps’ Hair MakeOver may save you from hours of thumbing through magazines to find the perfect new ‘do. With this iPhone app, you can try on different hairstyles before actually getting a haircut, much like trying on clothes in the fitting room before buying them. With over 180 hairstyles, you’re bound to find something that catches your eye. To get started, choose a photo option: Pick From Library, Take New Photo, or Use Model Photo. Then, choose the hairstyle category (fairly easy choice if you’re male) and start scrolling up and down the options that are subsequently displayed. If you see one you particularly like, tap to select and enlarge. Once the hairstyle pops up, tap and drag the face to position; you can also tap the Zoom and Rotate graphics on the bottom panel to further adjust the face to fit the hairstyle. Once satisfied, you can save the photo, email it to a friend, or share it on Facebook. Hair MakeOver certainly does its job in a pinch; visual people will especially find this iPhone app helpful. However, the graphics are pretty simplistic, with only one type of face shape as a blank placeholder–there’s only so much you can do with this app if you were seriously looking for a new hairdo. Perhaps if there were more options for customization, Hair MakeOver would be more helpful. If nothing else, this iPhone app is great as a starting point, but make sure you get a hairstylist’s (or trusted friend’s) input before taking the plunge with scissors. |
